This study investigates the epistemic and transformative potential of Islamic mystical teachings in addressing contemporary ethical and spiritual challenges. Centered on two pivotal stations, “Patience” (Sabr) and “Contentment” (Rida), from the Wadi al-Akhlaq in Khwāja ʿAbdallāh Anṣārī’s Mansions of the Wayfarers, the research analyzes how these behavioral paradigms contribute to the metamorphosis of an Islamic lifestyle. The central research question articulates the relationship between these two Sufi stations and the elevation of spiritual life, i.e., how these virtues facilitate the development of components of an Islamic lifestyle within a Sufi itinerary. Employing a descriptive-analytic methodology, the study draws on classical Sufi and ethical texts, with particular emphasis on the thought of Ruhollah Khomeini (RA). Findings indicate that Patience, across its tripartite realms (patience regarding sin, tribulation, and adversity) and Contentment, across its tripartite degrees (recognition of divine sovereignty, acceptance of fate, and heartfelt contentment), strengthen the intellect, alleviate the dominion of the nafs, and foster inner tranquility. Collectively, these virtues illuminate a path toward a monotheistic and spiritually centered lifestyle, mitigating obstacles such as materialism and anxiety and offering a stable framework for familial, social, economic, and other domains. The study’s originality lies in the practical articulation of the two Sufi stations, their integration with lifestyle, and the proposal of a concrete model to augment spiritual dimensions in contemporary contexts.
